Gratitude lists - the secret is out

I have been doing gratitude lists since my early days in sobriety. They were suggested to me at a meeting on bank holiday Today in August 2004 I just remember shit like that at times, shame I can't remember what Mrs F said a moment ago!  Anyway I did them daily for ages I had books of them. I do them less regularly now but they are a great leveler and reminder.
Now some guru is letting the secret out of the bag :-)  good to see the rest of the world beginning to catch AA up. :-)

  1. Since I've been on vacation I haven't worked on my step work but I'm where I need to revise my gratitude list...along with my "what needs work" list LOL Guess I know what I'll be doing when I get home!

    Be well.

  4. Mmmm hmmm, anytime I am down a list of all the good help me, too! I did it for about six months once and realized my life was pretty damn good :). I had gotten confused for a few minutes ;).

  6. i've had a particularly dark week. i need to blow the dust of my gratitude. and at the moment? it starts with 'i am grateful for my dog'. his daily requirements to be fed, walked, and loved may have kept me out of some deeper darkness. appreciate your timely reminder.

  7. I wish gratitude lists worked for me. I always feel fake and unworthy when I try. Like I'm trying to convince myself I am worthy when my battered psyche carrying my mother's voice just picks me to shreds.

Maybe they will work soon. But not yet.

    1. I'm sure they will - when I started out my first one said "I am alive" and that was after 20mins. I called the guy who suggested it he said "Have you had a drink today?" "No" I said "Why isn't that on the f***ing list then!". It was hard work, now whenever I write a list a lot comes out generally and a lot of it is internal happiness and gratitude
