What's wrong with the ones I have?

Mrs F and I are going to a wedding in April - a good friend and colleague of my wife is getting married.

Mrs F and Daughter-of-Furtheron went off to the cathedral of consumerism that is Bluewater yesterday on an "outfit buying" day.  Mrs F was extremely pleased with herself having found a dress, jacket, shoes and handbag.  All good.  She shows me all this when I arrive home last night.  Then came the statement "When are you going to sort out your stuff?".  "What "stuff"?" I ask.  There is one of those moments when Mrs F rolls her eyes.  "You have to at least buy a new shirt and tie!".  "What's wrong with the ones I have?"... I'll never learn will I.   Daughter-of-Furtheron just looks on laughing at my discomfort.

I'm off to do some shopping soon I think...

  1. We all know the reality...she's not concerned with how YOU look, but rather, she's concerned with how you make HER look. Remember, we're not boyfriends/husbands, we're ACCESSORIES.

  2. Dig around in the back of your wardrobe; you're bound to find at least one tie that both she and you will have forgotten you ever owned. Putting on a box-fresh shirt can feel nice, though. I'd go for that as a compromise.

  3. I'm like you, I dread shopping for myself. Shopping for others is much fun!

  4. Haaaa, I only wish my hubby were so biddable - I've more or less given up on him.. although (ugh) you've just reminded me of a compulsory dreaded black tie do we have to attend coming up in May (it's for the eldest daughter's sake, much as I'd love to get out of it, I can't). Worse, let the battle commence as far as hubby goes - I'm used to him showing me up, but no way can I let him do that to our Bec (shaking my head).. oh Gawd, you've gone and depressed me now!

  5. Yes, do go! Do NOT take lessons from my husband!
